POSITION OVERVIEW – Mechanical Design Engineer IV - Design Liaison Engineer
You'll be the design engineer who keeps gas turbine parts built right. You'll work with the suppliers and factories to answer one question: when a part comes in slightly off from the drawing, can it still be used? You'll own the technical side of flow path hardware, the parts that guide air and gas through a turbine, such as blades, vanes, stators, heat shields, and linkage assemblies. POSITION OVERVIEWThis role designs and optimizes high-efficiency CNC programs for complex multi-axis machining setups cutting high-temperature superalloys, using an industry-leading hardware and software stack including Siemens NX, Vericut digital twin/virtual prototyping, custom multi-function grinding machines, large 5-axis mills, and closed-loop machining automation. The role partners closely with Manufacturing Engineers and shop-floor teams to commission new equipment, establish machining standards, and serve as a technical mentor on the floor.
TECHNOLOGY & EQUIPMENT

• CAD/CAM Suite: Siemens NX (5-Axis Continuous Milling, VTL, VBM, HBM, Multi-Axis EDM, etc.).
• Digital Twin & Virtual Prototyping: 100% simulation coverage utilizing Vericut and Siemens Run My Virtual Machine.
• Next-Gen Hardware: Custom 10-ton multi-function grinding machines, massive 5-axis mills, and large VTLs/VBMs up to 2.5m.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process Architecture: Design and optimize high-efficiency CNC programs for complex multi-axis setups cutting high-temperature superalloys (Inconel, Rene, and exotic nickels).
• Virtual Prototyping: Use digital twin software (Vericut) to validate code and optimize toolpaths in a risk-free virtual environment before hitting the shop floor.
• Smart Machining: Develop adaptive probing routines, macro programming, and closed-loop machining processes to make complex setups smooth and predictable.
• New Equipment Integration: Partner with Manufacturing Engineers and shop-floor teams to commission new multi-million-dollar machine tools and establish baseline machining standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• Demonstrated experience programming 4 and 5-axis continuous milling, large VTLs, or multi-axis grinding systems using graphical CAM software (Siemens NX strongly preferred).
• 4 years minimum experience with offline programming in a CAM system.

POSITION OVERVIEW - Within the Gas Power Americas team, the Senior Project Engineering Manager will be under the operational responsibility of the Americas Pole Leader for Project Engineering Management, located in Schenectady, New York. You will execute the engineering portion of OTR contracts that contain Balance of Plant (BOP) scope. Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment. Job will require some travel within the US, Latin America, and Globally.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves as the technical leader/manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects.
• Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, Product Engineering, Sourcing, and Engineering subcontractors
• Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

   Providing technical support to Engineering, Sourcing, Vendors, and Installation teams to ensure equipment meets all Customer requirements and business objectives.
• Enforce quality procedures and participate in their improvement.
• Assure the experience feedback by capturing issues (Lessons Learned).
   Work in a matrix organization with numerous interfaces: In house with mainly the Engineering departments of Belfort, Baden, Noida, Queretaro, Schenectady, and Greenville. In house with fellow PEM’s and Project Coordinators. In house with project managers, quality, sourcing, logistics and scheduling. Externally with Customers, partners, EPCs, and subcontractors
• Serve as Senior Project Engineering Manager, when assigned, to lead and facilitate a total project solution across all product lines: Global technical project focal point… partner with project manager for customer/EPC meetings, etc. Drive consistent project requirement flow down across product lines (GT/ST/Gen/BOP) (Contractual/compliance). Drive–functional resolution to technical project issues from a system level across product lines. Respect of
   the contractual obligations while protecting the customer satisfaction. Management of technical risks of the project. Drive project profitability according to the assigned budgets.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited university or college
