POSITION OVERVIEW – Mechanical Design Engineer III
Seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer III to perform 2D and 3D gas turbine rotor finite element analyses (FEA) in Ansys. This role includes evaluating LCF crack initiation and propagation, bolted joint behavior, and overall strength performance, while working with CAD models in Siemens NX pulled from PLM systems. The engineer will document and present analytical results, support defect evaluations, and assist with automation efforts using Python.
3 openings total – 2 Remote, 1 Onsite (Greenville, SC). 40 hours/week
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute 2D & 3D gas turbine rotor finite element analyses in Ansys
- Perform typical post processing exercises such as LCF crack initiation, LCF crack propagation, summarize bolted joint behavior, strength evaluations, etc.
- Pull CAD models from PLM
- Work CAD models in Siemens NX
- Summarize and document analytical results
- Support automation of typical tasks with Python as needed
- Support defect evaluation through analysis
- Present on routine project status meetings
- Strong communication skills
- Highly collaborative and works well in team environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 6+ years of relevant work experience
- 3D Cad Modeling

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
- Strong expertise in Ansys for 2D and 3D finite element analysis
- Experience with gas turbine rotor or rotating equipment analysis
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and working with CAD models from PLM systems
- Knowledge of low-cycle fatigue (LCF) crack initiation and propagation methods
- Experience evaluating bolted joint behavior and structural strength
- Ability to automate repetitive analytical tasks using Python
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
- Confident presenting findings in project status meetings
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
